You’ve just spent a year doing whatever it is that you do. Are you happy? Are you doing what you want to do? Is your relationship where you want it to be? Are there still choices you can make? Of course there are, you just need to decide to make them.

If your job is not the job you want, then change it. If you aren’t happy doing what you are doing you will be doing yourself, and probably your employer a great service by changing. No one succeeds doing things they don’t like doing. If you find your calling it won’t even seem like work, it will be more a joy. Yes money is important, but as the old saying goes… it’s also the root of all evil. It doesn’t mean you or your family have to suffer, it means make a plan to get yourself into something that is worth while to you. Pick out something attainable and then work your way towards it.

If your relationship is not where you want it to be, work on it to make it right. Sometimes the littlest of changes will take it where you want it to go. People normally treat others the way they want to be treated. By example, if they offer you a back rub read it that they would like the same in return. People rarely choose for others what they would not choose for themselves. Seeing things for what they are can be more important than standing your ground because you think you are right. Is it more important to you to win a battle and lose a war?

They say change is always for the better. I’m not sure I buy that one, perhaps it would be better said slight change is always for the better. That often means changing yourself, not trying to change others. Change the way you look at things, the way you accomplish getting to the end, ask yourself how others see something before you take the final look yourself. If major change is required, then do it but make sure you know what you are giving up in order to gain what you hope to change.

The key to everything is being decisive. Don’t commit 50% to anything unless you are only looking to get 50% back. It means that you are equally okay with failing as you are with succeeding. And never look back, you can’t change the past, living in the past does nothing for you or anyone around you. There are many things in life I wish would have worked out different but they all led me to where I am now and that is a reality I have to deal with, so do you. It is far better to take one step forward instead of looking over you shoulder at what is behind you.
How to celebrate – With the New Year just around the corner, make a list of things you want to accomplish in the new year and accomplish them one step at a time. Learn to do something new. Whether it is dancing, drawing or writing it doesn’t matter, show yourself you are till capable of doing things you never thought you could. Make new friends. Don;t forget the old ones but expand your horizon as you look to make things better for yourself, and those around you.
