April 20th Volunteer Recognition Day

When I was looking at the choices of holidays today I was torn between listing National Volunteer Recognition Day and Patriot’s Day. Then it dawned on me, they in so many ways are the same day. Patriot’s Day is about those who fought the Revolution and they were basically volunteers. As in nearly every profession, there are volunteers often getting more done than the supposed professional. Whether it’s war, restoring order after some disaster, teaching or just feeding the hungry, volunteers lead the way to answering the issues.

How to celebrate – Thank a volunteer. Become a volunteer. Look up all the organizations that use volunteers.
