January 21st National Squirrel Appreciation Day
Consider to be “Nature’s Gardener” squirrels were once captured and brought into cities to help clean up the parks and public areas in cities during the mid-eighteen hundreds. Unfortunately that program did not work so well as by the eighteen sixties most of the squirrels had died off because their natural habitat was not maintained in the these public areas. As the parks became larger and fit the squirrels natural living conditions the squirrels came back on their own and never left. Today was created by Christy Hargrove in 2001 to honor nature’s call. How to celebrate – Appreciate the squirrels in your park and neighborhood. Take a squirrel a treat, though they don’t really need it. Be smarter than the squirrel and watch out for them when you drive
