February 6th Lame Duck Day

So this day is set up by the 20th Amendment in 1933. On January 20th, at noon, the previous President and Vice-President will surrender their office to the new President and Vice-President. That means that any President, after the election is over, really has very little power or sway over what Congress does. Now as we know, ducks can fly but are not well known for it. Hence, the political figure becomes much like a duck who can’t fly at all. He/She is just waiting for the next official to take office while they normally retire to private life.

How to celebrate – Realize that at one time or another, all Presidents become a lame duck. Go to the park and feed some ducks. Take your rubber duck to lunch. (I doubt they’ll eat much)
