People have been planting gardens since we realized we could grow our own food perhaps millions of years ago. (At least thousands of years ago) And every years we spend small fortune growing tomatoes and peppers and various other colorful vegetables, probably spending more on fertilizer and gardening tools than we save by buying our vegetables from the grocery store. They do taste better, are fresher and give us the satisfaction that we have accomplished something. Today was started by Bob Matthews in 2019, not all that long ago, from Rochester, New York an author and gardener. Today was picked because it generally clears all of North America from it’s last frost date of the spring.
How to celebrate – Plant a vegetable garden. Add some fruit to your vegetables. Enjoy the hobby more than the actual harvesting of food.
