July 31st Mutt’s Day

Pure bred dogs are pretty to look at for sure but if you want to have a fun, loyal dog you are by far better off with a Mutt! it is estimated that 8 out of 10 dogs are mixed breeds, I doubt they really care. Most are really smart, most are really fun and most love you for you just being you. Unless you are looking to breed you dog or show them at a dog show, who cares about how “pure” they are!?! People aren’t all that “Pure”, why does your dog have to be. Dogs are meant to be a friend, not a show toy that only makes us feel better, not them. Today was created by Collen Paige in Los Angles, California in 2005.

How to celebrate – Love your dog. Love your dog. Love your dog.

July 30th International Day of Friendship

Today we are supposed to celebrate our friends all over the world. The first country in the world to suggest this was the US who began practicing it in 1919. The UN made it an international day in 2011, nearly 100 years later. When people suggest that the US is not friendly towards other countries they ought to look at history, though I know that’s not very popular today because everyone thinks the media tells the only history we need to know. The truth of the matter is, we are repeating history even now we are just too stupid to know it. So as you celebrate the International Day of Friendship just remember where it began.

How to celebrate – Contact a friend in another country. Make a friend in another country. Learn from history so you don’t make the same mistakes that were made before.

July 29th International Tiger Day

Like all animals that live in the wild, the Tiger is disappearing. There are estimated to be maybe 3,000 left in the wild, their population dropping 97%. In an effort to save the tigers a Tiger Summit was created in St. Petersburg, Russia and International Tiger Day, or Global Tiger, was created in 2010 to begin to make people aware of what they were doing to endanger the tiger, as well as most animals that live in the wild. It truly is sad that we are too busy being greedy to worry much about what we are doing to nature. Man is a tiger’s worst enemy.

How to celebrate – Take care about destroying the environment. Learn more about tigers. Live and let live.

July 28th National Milk Chocolate Day

When Columbus discovered chocolate in the America’s the Natives were using in as a drink which was rather bitter. he sent it back to Europe where at first it was not well received. Someone decided it might be better if sugar were added to it and it sudden;y became a hit! Though it was primarily dark chocolate until another someone decided to add milk to the batch and suddenly, we had milk chocolate which most people prefer today. Who knows, maybe someone else will come up with adding nuts or raisins or something even wilder to chocolate!

How to celebrate – Try chocolate in it’s natural form. Compare dark chocolate to milk chocolate. Experiment with different things you can add to chocolate.

July 27th Take Your Pants For a Walk Day

I assume that today refers to you taking a walk yourself though with all the bizarre and strange days there are, maybe it does mean to take your pants for a walk. Perhaps it’s a new method of drying your pants instead of placing them in a dryer, but maybe not. It is summer and a little warm to wear your pants if you are talking a walk but if it’s not raining then it’s a perfectly good way of drying them. Or perhaps, like me, you will just go about your day and not pay any attention to it being “Take Your Pants For A Walk Day”.

How to celebrate – Take your pants for a walk. Put your pants on a leash and drag them behind you. Forget you heard about this day and live your life normally.

July 26th All Or Nothing Day

If you have anything you want to do, today is the day to “go for it”, give it everything you got! We all try certain things, gamble a little bit on what we can accomplish and what we can’t. Maybe, just maybe, if we actually gave it all of nothing we might get it done instead of falling short. Falling short means we generally did not follow through. For example, when you hit a ball with a bat you don’t stop the swing when you first make contact, you swing all the way through the ball. Stopping with drop the ball at your feet, swinging through may send it over the wall. That works with everything, so “Go for it” it today and don;t let anything stop you from getting what you want.

How to celebrate – Excel at whatever you are doing. Try something you were too afraid to try before. Give something your all instead of settling for another failure.

July 25th Culinarians Day

Want to get fancy with your meals today? You don;t have to fix anything different from what you normally fix, just call yourself a Culinarian! It sounds so much better than just a cook! A peanut butter and jelly sandwich sounds better when prepared by a Culinarian and anybody can be a Culinarian. And never mind that your spell check can;t find the word, is does exist, if only in your mind and the mind of the person that came up with this. It’s time to get fancy, add salad dressing to that salad!

How to celebrate – Cook something! Insist on your family calling you a Culinarian. Make food fun.

July 24th National Tequila Day

July 24th National Tequila Day

You can thank Mexico for it’s blue agave juice for today. Add a little lime and salt around the time of your glass and you have your nearly perfect drink. It’s actually refreshing as well as intoxicating! It’s history dates back to the 16th century and is either named for the town it is originally created in or the town is named for the drink… that depends on how much Tequila you’ve had. Over 300 million blue agave plants are harvested every year to create the drink. Bottoms up!

How to celebrate – Have a Tequila. Try growing your own blue agave plants. Stock up on your salt and lime.

July 24th Cousins Day

So if your parents had any brothers or sisters chances are you have cousins. My Dad’s sister had two children, a boy and a girl and they would come visit us normally once a year when we were younger. My father was a farmer so, naturally my sister and I lived on the farm. My Uncle was in the Marine Corp and was assigned to different places so my cousins would come stay with us for a month or so, normally during the summer. We had an extra house on the farm so they, and my Aunt, would live there so really it was more like having friends close by. I loved those times, though I was the youngest and often got left out of a lot of stuff. Since then another sister was added to my family and I have lost track of my cousins. Don’t let that happen to you.

How to celebrate – Hold a family reunion. Keep in touch with your extended family. Start a family tree.

July 23rd Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony

Well, after a years delay it is time for the Olympic Games to begin in Tokyo. It’s was cancelled last year due to Covid-19 but will finally get started again and hopefully get back on schedule. The games close on August 8th. These will be the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (Seems like there should be more than that) Let the games begin!

How to celebrate – Tune your television in on the games. Go to Tokyo! Get in training and be ready for XXXIII Games in Paris.
