January 23-29 National Kiss a Shark week

We are terrorized by sharks in the water these days. Ever since Jaws we envision them attacking us for no good reason but that just isn’t true. Sharks have been around for over 230 million years and humans have never been on the top selling list for shark treats. In fact, only 7 deaths are average a year from shark attacks across the entire world. Yet we humans kill more than a million sharks every year. The odds of your getting attacked by a shark are 1 in 11. Million chances. Lightening is 1- 500,000 chances. So why not learn more about sharks and kiss a shark instead of being afraid of a shark!

How to celebrate – Study sharks from a safe distance, so maybe kiss a shark through the aquarium glass or better yet – a stuffed animal shark! Do not challenge a shark in the water, they are a better swimmer than you. Pay attention to shark warnings at the beach.
