It’s surprising how many things we use these days operate, or start operating, off a battery. Our cars, our laptops, Christmas lights, radios… well you name it… if there is an electric version of something it probably started off as battery powered. Batteries have been with us for over 2,000 years in one form or another. They probably weren’t real reliable until Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist invented what we know today as a working battery in 1745. The whole world got a charge out of it.
