Ya, caught me by surprise too, today is not about hanging out with your friends or a loved one, it’s about hanging your clothes outside to dry. The day was created by Project Laundry List to promote the idea of drying your clothes on an outside line and letting them dry naturally. They also promote the idea of using cold water to wash your clothes with to save energy. The first driers were called ventilators and began appearing around 1800 though they weren’t very effective and often dangerous. So drying your clothes outside is the oldest drier in the world, and it does work!
How to celebrate – Set up your own clothes line. Wash your clothes in cold water. Try washing your clothes while you bathe, you can save even more energy! (Of course your clothes won’t get very clean.)
