July 17th Yellow Pig Day

Yellow Pig Day is a mathematician’s holiday concerning the number 17. It was created in the early 1960’s by Michael Spivak and David E. Kelly. They created a yellow pig that had 17 toes, 17 teeth and 17 eyelashes. Exactly why? Well that I was unable to find out but on the other hand, why not? It is celebrated with yellow cake, generally formed in the shape of as pig and has carols created for it by making up lyrics to familiar tunes. If you can’t wait to celebrate this day you are in luck, today is the day!

How to celebrate – Throw a yellow pig party. Make a yellow pig cake. Create some yellow pig Carols, they can’t be much worse than the ones already out there! (Do watch out for copyright violations)
