The funny thing about World Smile Day, that smiley face we all have come to know and either love or hate, is claimed to have been created by Harvey Ball of Worcester, Mass in 1963 and then again created for the State Mutual Life Company. However, Harvey was no longer smiling about When Frenchman Franklin Loufrani claimed it was his in 1968. Loufrani has copyright in 80 countries but here in the United States the U.S. Congress proclaimed World Smile Day on the 1st Friday in October which this years happens to be the 7th. So… who’s smiling now?
