October 10th National Angel Food Cake Day

Angel Food Cakes are basically just sponge cakes. They are made with no fat, no butter, no cream and no egg yolk. They are, however, very nice to eat, sort of lighter than air and add a little fruit they make nearly the perfect deserts. It first came about in the United States in the 1880’s around the Saint Louis, Missouri area and then appearing in an 1884 Boston recipe book. It is, sort of, a healthy alternative to regular cakes. The day was created in 2012 but there is little more information to share.

How to celebrate – Have some Angel Food Cake. Mix Angel Food with a jell-o packet and enhance your flavorings. Add a little alcohol to make your Angel Food Cake a more adult desert.
