February 13th National Cheddar Day

Cheddar cheese makes up one third of the cheese market in the United States. It’s even larger in the UK where it was discovered back in Somerset, England in the 12th century. In 1894 Peter McIntosh brought cheddar cheese over to Tillamook, Oregon and it began to spread from there. (Pun intended) The day was created by Tillamook in 2019 since that is sort of the American home to cheddar cheese in America. There are hundreds of ways to serve cheddar cheese but perhaps the most rewarding is to just cut a piece off the roll and eat it.

How to celebrate – Use cheddar cheese in whatever you cook today. Visit Somerset, England. Visit Tillamook, Oregon.
