The first official Barista came in 1938 though there have probably been Baristas for hundreds of years. If they make coffee or tea for someone, they are a Barista. If they tend a bar, they are a Barista. If you don’t know what to call that person behind the counter call them a Barista. Today was created by the Almond Breeze Company to honor the Barista.
