April 6th Teflon Day

Today could also be known as the “Happy Pan” Day and is another of those accidents that happen that make life better. First off, Polytetrafluorethylene, or PTFE, was invented back in 1938 by Dr. Roy Plunkett who was trying to come up with a refrigerant but discovered Teflon instead. The non-stick surface has made cooking much easier than ever before and there have even been improvements since the original was discovered. So when your food slides off your pan easily and cleaning up is a breeze, you can thank Dr. Plunkett for his error.

How to celebrate – Read about all the products made with Teflon. See if you have any Teflon pots or pans in your house. Discover other accidental inventions that have made life easier.
