July 31st Mutt’s Day

The best dog, for friends and family, is a dog that loves you instead of thinking so highly of themselves. Of course we are the ones that teach them to be uppity and vain. That’s what I love about mutts. They are just here because they are a dog and want nothing more, or less, than being a dog. I suspect even show dogs would rather be a mutt if they had a choice. Yes, show dogs are beautiful and it’s sort of fun to watch them prance around but there is nothing like a dog dog that plays and has fun with it’s family.

How to celebrate – Take your dog mutt out for a walk. (You can’t do that with a show dog because they might get dirty) Let your dog roll around in the back yard. Just love your dog not expecting anything more than getting love back from them.

March 23rd National Puppy Day

I love dogs, always have and always will. And every dog starts out as a puppy, and just like your children, they will always be your puppy even when they are a hundred in dog years! Dogs are our best friends, puppies are our new best friends. Yes they are clumsy, sometimes do things we don’t want them to do and it may take them a while to learn what you expect out of them and what you don’t. But if you treat them right, they will unconditionally love you and always remain your puppy. Today was created by Colleen Paige in 2006 of Pet & Home Lifestyle.

How to celebrate – Give a puppy a home today. Remember your dog when it was a puppy. Take lots of pictures of your puppy.

August 26th National Dog Day

If you are a dog lover this day comes every day! Dogs are truly man’s best friend. That’s not holding anything against cats or birds or any other pet you choose to keep, But dogs and man go together like soup and sandwich, cookies and milk, pb & j… well you get the picture. I’m not sure one can survive without the other. Take care of your dog, love your dog, spend time with your dog and they will reward you time and time again. Today was created in 2004 by Colleen Paige, Pet Lifestyle Expert. And yes, the picture for today is the same as the one for yesterday because … well … it just seems to fit!

How to celebrate – Love your dog. Give your dog some special treats today. Make friends with your best friend all over again today.

March 23rd National Puppy Day

In case any one who follows this blog hasn’t caught it, I am a dog person! Is there anything cuter than than a puppy? I don’t think so. Yes they get in to trouble while they are learning but eventually they come to understand what you expect of them. In the mean time, they are fun to watch just like a child and they love you unconditionally. Today was created by Colleen Page, a Pet & Home Style expert in 2006.

How to celebrate – Get a puppy. Dogs live relatively short lives, love them while you have them. Take plenty of pictures while they are a puppy.

July 31st Mutts Day

I love mutts. They, to me, are the pure definition of a dog, man’s best friend. They have nothing to prove, no trophies to show, and offer nothing but pure love. They have two, or more, breeds in their makeup and that normally seems to balance them into just being a good friend. Some of them are pretty, others are beauty challenged, but that’s only on the outside, they are warm, caring animals that want to do little more than please you. Oh, and sure, they just like people, make mistakes but they will learn and always try better, even though sometimes then still make an error or two. Love your dog and they will love you ten-fold.

How to celebrate- Be thankful you have a best friend. Give your dog a treat just because. Adopt a dog, give them a home… you won’t regret it.

June 26th Take Your Dog To Work Day

June 26th Take Your Dog To Work Day

Since 1999, people have been celebrating today by taking their best friend to work with them. It was created by Pet Sitters International probably because they need a day off! Your dog loves you and wants to be where ever you are. They will do whatever you want them to do, hopefully, as long as they get the chance to be with you. They don’t really ask for too much more. So take your dog to work today with you. I guarantee your day will be better.

How to celebrate – Buy your dog a suit or dress so they are properly clothed when you go into work. Train your dog to do things for you at work. Make sure you take a water bowl with you.

June 8th Best Friends Day

Do you have a best friend? You know that person you can share anything with and they don’t judge you or try to make you change? The person you share things with, secrets with and hopes and dreams with? Most people would say their best friend is their mate, their dog or a brother or sister. They very well can be your best friend but a friend doesn’t have to be a soul mate. They have common interest, like to do similar activities and sometimes, just hang out together. The funny thing is they don’t choose you, and you don’t chose them. It just sort of happens. If you can figure out who that person or animal is, this is the day you honor them.

How to celebrate – Spend some time with your best friend today. Figure out who your best friend is. Take your best friend to lunch.

March 23rd National Puppy Day

Puppies are great! So full of energy and cute, they remind us of all the good things in life. Yes they have their accidents and tear a few things up they shouldn’t but for most of us, that’s just a part of loving them. When you look in their eyes they show the love they have for everyone and everything, they are only taught to fear and distrust people by what people do to them. Puppies are still learning and for the most part do want to please their masters. But they are kids and have to rebel at least a little. And just like children, enjoy them while you can because they do grow up fast. The nice thing about that is, then you have the best friend in life you could ever have.

How to celebrate – Get a puppy. Learn what kind of dog is good for your life style. Take plenty of pictures!

July 10th National Teddy Bear Picnic Day

July 10th Teddy Bear Picnic Day

Who’s your buddy? Naturally you probably will have several but who’s been there with you since day one (Or two if your parents were concerned) Naturally, it’s your Teddy Bear! We all know the story about Teddy Roosevelt’s hunting trip, He refused to shoot a baby bear and one thing led to another and the next thing we know, the Teddy Bear was created. So make some peanut butter and honey sandwiches, bears prefer honey over jelly, maybe some jelly beans or gummy bears (If you don’t think they will scare your teddy bear) and take you bear to the park. Just remember Teddy bears don’t like cook outs, they are filled with stuffing! Show them you still love them even after the 50 years you spent with them.

How to celebrate – Well, take your Teddy Bear on a picnic. Dig your Teddy Bear out of the attic. If you lost your Teddy Bear go buy another and start a new tradition.

June 8th Best Friends Day

So who is your very best friend? Your BFF? How many BFF’s have you had in your life? Friends are bound to come and go. We all would like to have them there forever but it just isn’t practical. Is your mate your best friend, they should be because hopefully you’ll be spending a great deal of time with them. But it’s not fair to not have a BFF aside from your loved one, after all who are you going to complain to about what’s wrong with your mate if not for you best friend!?! Today is the day to remember your best friend, honor them and remember just how much they really mean to you.

How to celebrate – Take your best friend to lunch. Call your best friend if they live to far away to visit. make a list of all the best friends you’ve had.
