May 23rd Lucky Penny Day

So exactly what is a lucky penny? I’d say any penny you find could be considered lucky, unless of course it is covered in some rare poison or virus. But the true test of a lucky penny is finding it on heads and then taking it and never spending it, which is pretty easy to do these days because nothing actually costs a penny! To me, finding any money is already good luck so you were lucky to find it to start with! Just remember it has to be on heads or it could actually bring you bad luck… that is if you believe in that sort of thing.

How to celebrate – Look for pennies on heads. If you find a penny on tails, turn it over and leave it for the next person. If you find any other coins it doesn’t matter if they are on heads or tails, you were just lucky to start with!

February 12th National Lost Penny Day

Well I read about it and I am still not exactly sure what they mean by the lost penny. We are celebrating the first American penny ever released, designed by Benjamin Franklin back in 1787. So how did February 12th get picked to celebrate it on? Well, the penny was the first US coin to have the image of a US President engraved on it. That President was Abraham Lincoln and it was done of his birth day, February 12th, 100 years later in 1909. The day was created by Sioux Koopersmith in 1995 but you would have to ask her why it’s lost. Maybe it has something to do with searching for pennies you have lost and hoping you will find them on “heads” for good luck!

May 23rd Lucky Penny Day

Find a penny on heads and it’s considered good luck. What if you found 2,000 pennies on tails? Wouldn’t that be lucky as well? Well maybe, but if you try to put 2,000 pennies in your pocket that might not work out to well. If you find a copper penny made during World War Two you’ll not only be lucky but you’ll also be rich! Just keep in mind that if you are looking for your lucky penny on the ground, look up every once in a while or you might finds yourself walking into a wall!

February 12th National Lost Penny Day

Did you know that Benjamin Franklin designed the first penny in 1787? (At least in the US) Eventually, in 1909, President Lincoln image was placed on the penny as Presidents replaced other images on nearly every coin. Some pennies are just pennies, others are worth a lot since they may have been double stamped or even been made of copper during World War 2 when they weren’t supposed to be. But today is about finding them, a lost one, and good luck with that… one is pretty much just like another. And most are useless these days unless something is odd about them. The day was created by Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith in 1995, she’s a eventologist!

How to celebrate – Look for that lost penny. Mark your pennies in someway so you’ll know which is which. Offer a penny for someone’s thoughts.
