The best dog, for friends and family, is a dog that loves you instead of thinking so highly of themselves. Of course we are the ones that teach them to be uppity and vain. That’s what I love about mutts. They are just here because they are a dog and want nothing more, or less, than being a dog. I suspect even show dogs would rather be a mutt if they had a choice. Yes, show dogs are beautiful and it’s sort of fun to watch them prance around but there is nothing like a dog dog that plays and has fun with it’s family.

How to celebrate – Take your dog mutt out for a walk. (You can’t do that with a show dog because they might get dirty) Let your dog roll around in the back yard. Just love your dog not expecting anything more than getting love back from them.

Pure bred dogs are pretty to look at for sure but if you want to have a fun, loyal dog you are by far better off with a Mutt! it is estimated that 8 out of 10 dogs are mixed breeds, I doubt they really care. Most are really smart, most are really fun and most love you for you just being you. Unless you are looking to breed you dog or show them at a dog show, who cares about how “pure” they are!?! People aren’t all that “Pure”, why does your dog have to be. Dogs are meant to be a friend, not a show toy that only makes us feel better, not them. How about making this Christmas brighter for everyone! Get a dog, from a shelter, that could really use your love and probably give you back more than you can even contemplate receiving. It is estimated that thee are 3.3 million dogs in shelters in the United States. Most are animals that are filled with love and truly are man’s best friend. They, like most humans, do not deserve to live their lives in cages, seldom, if ever, getting much human contact. All they want is a home, and a little hope. They give back much more than they take and I can tell you, they are truly your best friend. They do not care about what you look like, how you smell or what you like to do… they just want to be with you and share your experiences, which really are all that much better for them being there. Who’s your buddy? It only seems right that after yesterday being International Day of Friendship that today we celebrate our true friends, dogs. Now the pure bred dogs are fun to look at but for a true friend, you require the half-breed, the mutt. This is a dog that has nothing to prove and often nothing to lose so they give you their all and often asking for only a small bit of you in return. I am a true dog lover. They are my best friends which makes me want to give them all I can. They celebrate with us on our highs and stay by our sides during our lows. They don’t care about about what kind of house we have or what kind of car we drive, whether we were the most fashionable or dress like a bum, they love us because… they love us. And the best of all is the mutt. They may not be pretty and they may never win a ribbon, but they will always be your friend.

Everyone knows I love dogs. You can just look in their eyes and see the love there. They instantly become your best friend in the whole world and ask so little in return. A little food, water and love buys a lifetime friendship that will go with you anywhere you will allow it to go with you.

I think some of the mutts in the world are the most precious. They have nothing to prove, won’t win any ribbons and may get a bit goofy from time to time but they are always there. I wish they could live longer because the only bad thing about having a dog is losing them.

There is nothing wrong with a pure-breed. They are cool but a mutt just has that something extra. They aren’t perfect, they make mistakes and sometimes even do something bad but it is never intended. They really do only want to make you happy.

They laughs, they smile and they even cry… just like us humans. They play fetch, they cuddle and they are there for you when you need them. Please be there for them when they need you. Dogs are one of the best things in life, mutt or pure-breed. Love them and they are guaranteed to love you back.
