Red Roses say love. Remember that old song, “I’ve got some red roses for a blue lady”? Well, roses are designed to make someone happy, they are beautiful to look at and smell pretty too (although an increasing number of people seem to be allergic to them). But like anything concerning love, it does have its thorns as well. Also, make sure when sending roses to someone that you send the right color… red ones might get you into trouble! Roses mean even more when they come from bushes you have planted and cared for yourself!
How to celebrate – Plant some roses… if you intend to use them today you had better have done this several months ago! Study the different colors of roses to get your sentiments across the right way. Buy some fake roses with a rose scented candle.
Roses are red violets are… well, never mind that, this is just roses are red day. Roses are probably the flower most associated with feelings. They are beautiful, smell wonderful and bring joy to nearly everyone who receives them or sends them. In case you get confused like me, red roses signify love; pink are for “thank you”, which may come after the red if they work as intended; yellow are for joy; and red and white are for those lucky enough to fall in love at first sight. Those colors are simple, where it gets complex is if the rose is white or cream, light pink or dark pink, or even orange. Anyway, I hope your day is filled with red roses today.
How to celebrate – Grow a rose garden. Send someone you love roses. Learn the meaning of every color rose.
The red rose is America’s favorite flower. It is supposed to
represent love and romance. It is a beautiful flower and I have to admit, red
is my favorite color so the combination works well. “Roses are red, violets are
blue. Some people are allergic and it makes them achoo!” Roses signify many
emotions, among the many colors are pink – admiration, yellow – friendship,
white – innocence, orange – excitement, lavender – wanting a relationship to grow
and peach – thank you. No matter what color rose you get, cherish it, but
remember… red is the best.
How to celebrate – Send someone roses today. Plant some
roses in your garden. Learn what all the colors of roses mean so you can send
the best one for the emotion they represent.
It is only appropriate that Red Rose Day should come when it’s the season for roses to grow. I doubt it would have the same affect if done in the middle of the winter. The day probably comes to us from Australia where the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation uses the day as a fund raising and awareness.
As we have begun to become constantly politically correct, we have allowed the color of roses to stand for something as well. To give a friend a red rose can give them the wrong impression. While original roses, I think, were all red… that made them special… personal observation… I don’t think with all these color changes they mean as much anymore.
Of course, I don’t know if we are actually allowed to give flowers to anyone anymore since we might offend them. Maybe we should learn how to create clear roses so they don’t mean anything at all. A rose, is a rose, no matter what you call it.
And I don’t think that the more roses you give indicates the more you love someone. it just means you are richer! When you cut them, you are killing them. Let’s hope your love lasts longer than the rose will. Maybe giving a red rose plant is better than giving plants that are not going to last very long.
A single rose is just as beautiful, means just as much and indicates the same thing.
How to celebrate – Give a red rose to someone you love. Plant a red rose plant in your yard today. Develop a clear rose that’s says and means nothing at all.
Ah, the most romantic day of the year. It’s appropriate that they put it in winter where we can cuddle together without sweating! Today it’s all about chocolate and flowers for the one you love. Of course if they are allergic to chocolate, flowers, perfume… well, good luck! In all honesty though, its just about showing your soul mate that you love them… something you should do everyday.
The day supposedly celebrates the Roman God of Fertility. The above is the Goddess because… well… the only God of Fertility I could find was Greek and he really stood out if you catch my drift. You can check him out if you like but be warned.
It is also known as the first day of birds mating season. I guess a lot of birds are born Aquarius. Of course they have all flown south for the winter so I assume most birds are southern. You can check this out for yourself by listening to their Southern accent chirping.
In 2009 39,897 coules got together in Mexico and kissed for 10 seconds creating a new world record. It happened to be Valentines Day. Ironically February 15th, 2009 marks the most ever reported colds day. (Not really) Red and pink are the Valentine color. Of course pink is the mix of white and red so… red means energy, strength, power and danger (All things that get your heart beating faster) mixed with the innocense and purity of white. So red leads to white and ends up pink!
Whatever reason you choose, today is the day to show your lover that you love them. If you know them well enough, you know what you need to do. Over 1 billion dollars of chocolates sell today, I have no idea what the amount spent on flowers is but I am sure it’s close to the same. No matter what you buy, saying I love you is what really matters.
How to celebrate – Let your mate know you love them. Take your mate out for a nice dinner. Go buy some fish with the one you love.
