November 22nd Go For A Ride Day

If the weather is nice today why not get in, or on, some sort of vehicle and go for a ride. Enjoy the world around you and explore a little. who knows, maybe you’ll find some place or something new that you never noticed before. You may see old friends or make new ones, find a great place to eat or a spot where you can just sit and chill out… and it all starts with taking a ride, passing some time, either alone or with those you love. If the weathers bad, maybe you can plan a trip instead. It doesn’t need to take all that long. Oh, and if you have a best friend (Meaning a dog) take them along!

How to celebrate – Go for a ride. Learn more about the world around you. Start a caravan!

August 15th Relaxation Day

Today is your day to relax and unwind. Actually it’s everybody’s day to relax and unwind. That’s the problem with days like Relaxation Day, there is nobody left to wait hand and foot on you because… well… they are relaxing too! So maybe your shouldn’t celebrate relaxation day on relaxation day because you really can’t get pampered! Or maybe you could just relax a little…

How to celebrate – Find a place to relax. Help other to relax so long as you are able to relax yourself. Start doing Yoga, or in my case… yogurt.

May 3rd Garden Meditation Day

If you need a place to get in the mood to meditate, just go to your garden! There is probably not a more serene place to go that you will be familiar with and it is filled with sights, smells and sounds that should put you in the mood to meditate. That is, unless as with my garden, you look around and see all the weeds growing and plants that need trimming. So maybe you should keep your garden up so that you can go there to meditate and enjoy nature as it was meant to be! Today was created by author/radio host C.l. Fornari in 2010.

How to celebrate – Tend your garden. Go to a park. Visit a Botanical Garden.

March 22nd National Goof Off Day

Today was created by Monica “Moeller” DuFour of Davidson, MI, who heard of the day first from her Grandfather in 1976. We all sort of need a day where we can goof off. Not tied down to a job, or weekend busy work or doing anything important at all, we just goof off. It’s good for our souls, our mental outlook and may actually help us to focus more when we do the other things that are important. So take off a day and “Goof Off” and don’t feel guilty about it.

How to celebrate – Figure out what you want to do while goofing off so you don’t have to plan it today. Determine what is goofing off to you. Don;t get mad when you see someone else goofing off, if you have the right.. so do they.

August 15th Relaxation Day

Chill out, today is Relaxation Day. Today is the day to spend your time in a hammock, in bed or laying in the sand at the beach. It’s a day to let all the world’s problems pass you by and just be one with the universe. And for us, if my calendar is right, is a Sunday! Just think of it, there is so little to be done! And the fact that it comes on a Sunday this year is perfect, we don’t often get that chance to actually relax on Relaxation Day!

How to celebrate – Plan all your ways to relax on Saturday, if you haven’t done that… just sit down and enjoy it. Buy a hammock and get a drink and chill. Visit a spa.

August 10th Lazy Day

When we reach the dog days of summer we find more and more reason to be lazy. To lay around reading a book, sipping a drink or relaxing in the pool. It’s hot in August, and no one really wants to do too much of anything. And if anyone complains about you being lazy tell them you are conserving your energy for the busy days ahead. (Whether they are actually busy or not) So enjoy your summer days because it won’t belong until they are gone and you are back at the grind again anyway.

How to celebrate – Relax. Give yourself a summer day to enjoy. Find someone to do nothing with.

January 3rd Festival of Sleep Day

Now here’s a day most of us can look forward to! For most of us, we never get enough sleep so today is a day to play catch up. The rush of the holidays is over (though the holidays themselves are not) and we can sit down and relax, celebrating that we made it through another season. We actually need one of these days every week, or maybe every two weeks. So how much sleep is enough sleep? Eight hours a night? Six hours a night? Ten hours a night? It’s different for each of us so how much sleep you need to catch up on depends on your routine (actually that doesn’t work). So enjoy your day sleeping and if you wake up before January 4th, just go back to bed.

How to celebrate – Sleep.

August 10th Lazy Day

It’s summer. During the summer you are allowed many lazy days since it gets too hot to do anything anyway. It’s a day to stay in the hammock, dive in the pool or take a nap any time you want. You have to recharge more often during the summer than in the winter. There is just something about the heat that makes you feel like everything can wait until later to do. Doesn’t matter if you are human or animal, everything can wait until you get around to it and if you never get around to it, oh well. Don’t get too use to it though, summer will end soon and it we be time to resume the hectic life we all live.

How to celebrate – Chill out. Take a nap. Find some shade.

March 22nd National Goof Off Day

Today is a day to do nothing. National Goof Off Day is a day to have fun and not get caught. You can’t goof off unless you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing. The day was even created as a goof by Monica “Moeller” Dufour from Davison, MI. It’s “dangerous” to goof off, that’s part of the challenge and part of the fun. Some people have made goofing off an art! So enjoy yourself today but make sure no one knows you are enjoying yourself, otherwise you have not officially goofed off!

How to celebrate – Plan how you are going to goof off. Get others to goof off with you. If you work at goofing off then are you truly goofing off?

August 15th National Relaxation Day

Most of us work hard, we spend lots of hours doing the things we have to do, not the things we want to do. Well today is the day to change that, not forever, but at least for today. Today your job is to relax (boy I hope this is a weekend day, I haven’t checked yet!) Put your feet up, kick back and take a nap, read a book or just stare into space, it doesn’t really matter. Whatever way you chose to relax is the right way to relax! Ever go on vacation and come back more tired than you were before you left? Well, if you are on vacation take a vacation from your vacation! Chill out, hire someone to do all your work for you, you have the day off from everything!

How to celebrate – Don’t do anything. Have someone make you a nice cool drink. Pamper yourself.
