March 10th Mario Day
Okay so, maybe this is taking it a little far… A day we celebrate a fictitious character playing a fictitious game in a fictitious land. It’s funny but Mario’s fist appearance in a video game did not exactly feature Mario. It was Donkey Kong. While Mario was a character in it, it was actually the Ape (Kong) that was featured. Nintendo created Donkey Kong in 1981, and Mario in 1985.
How to celebrate – Buy an original Donkey Kong game. Experience playing as Mario in one of the many Mario video games, especially Mario cart. Look in your family tree for anyone named Mario.
