July 17th World Emoji Day

The smiley face is considered the first emoji, it was created by Harvey Ball of Worchester, Mass in 1963. No, the idea did not come from Forest Gump’s shirt as the movie suggests. Since then, the world of the emjoi has grown to cover nearly every emotion, and then some. They do get used perhaps a little over used in some cases as people try to put a smile on someone else’s face. While the idea is good, the over use kind of lessens the effect anymore. Today was created by Jeremy Burge in 2014. I’ll bet there is an Emjoi that shows that too!
