So, did you know Christmas is still taking place? Candlemas is a part of Christmas, or so I am told, and it runs until February 15th. Actually today is the start of Candlemas, a day loved by all women’s right groups across the world! It started back when women were not allowed in Temple after the birth of a child because they were considered… “Unclean” (?) for 40 days after the birth of a son and 60 days for a daughter. This is known as the “Feast of Purification” of which even the Virgin Mary was subjected to after the birth of Christ. The general idea is that the burning of candles cleans the church.
How to celebrate – Burns some candles! Enjoy the Christmas season being lengthened. Go to church.
